Hole Description:
This short par-5 offers players an opportunity to get a good start to their round. Lots of room off the tee, but those who favor the left side will be rewarded with a shorter, more favorable angle to the green. Avoid the fairway bunker extending into the fairway on the left side of the approach. However, that bunker defines the preferred line to the green. The green has some noticeable depth and pitches from back-to-front. Missing this green on the short side leaves a straightforward, uphill pitch recovery. Misses on either shoulder will prove more difficult.

Hole Description:
This short par-3 is certainly one of the more identifiable on the property, with its colorful flower arrangement between the tees and green. The hole is otherwise set within a wooded preserve, which can make judging the wind somewhat deceptive. Bunkers guard both sides of the green and the large putting surface has a steady back-to-front pitch. Pars and birdies are expected here.

Hole Description:
The 3rd is one of the best (and naturally beautiful) holes at Quail West… a relatively short par-four among the pines and cypress trees. The hole turns rather abruptly to the right, which makes the small, centerline bunker an important landmark and aiming point. Bold plays will take on the bunker or hope to slide by on the right side… careful, of course, not to get too close to the trees. Being in the proper position off the tee is important due to the small, angled green is that is elevated well above the fairway. A deep bunker frames the left edge and fall-way slopes on the left make for very tricky recoveries.

Hole Description:
A really solid, strategic par-four, the 4th invites players to swing away from the tee to the wide, angled fairway. There are three target bunkers on the left… choose the one that fits your eye and ability… but don’t forget the water down the entire right side of the hole. The green here is cleverly contoured, so precision with the approach shot is important despite the absence of bunkering.

Hole Description:
This long par-five begins with a wide tee shot landing area, but the hole gradually bottle-necks as the green draws closer. Judgement and precision are vital here, as misses on either side of the hole will certainly result in lost balls. Three good shots can find the deceptive green here, which features a strong right-to-left pitch that makes getting the hole close to the pin quite a challenge.

Hole Description:
A solid, medium-short par four, the 6th has a rather sharp turn at the dogleg. Players must be careful not to cut the dogleg too closely, as not much advantage is gained from taking the risk. Use the fairway bunker as a useful target, which leaves a short iron approach to a large putting surface. The real feature of this hole is the green and it’s foreground. A deep swale guards the front and makes for a supreme challenge to get the ball close to a front pin position.

Hole Description:
This par-3 is set within a gorgeous, pristine preserve. Tees are arranged on raised ground to play over a wetland to a raised green. The green is long with an open front and steep shouldering slopes on both sides, including a long bunker on the right. The green is pitched from back-to-front and presents a new challenge each day given the pin setting.

Hole Description:
This strategic par-four invites players to make a decision on the tee. As the hole turns sharply to the left, three bunkers frame the outside turn of the fairway. While the visible part of the fairway is broad, the bunkers pinch the landing area as the hole turns. The green is large and angled from right-to-left to reward tee shots on the left half of the fairway. Those coming in from the right side must navigate two forward bunkers and a diagonal surface pitch.

Hole Description:
Greed will benefit no one on the 9th… it’s all about position off the tee. The fairway landing area is generous, but misses can be disastrous with water on the right and out-of-bounds on the left. Well placed tee shots will still face a testy approach shot, with water present in between. The green is effectively wide and open in the front and is gently contoured. Errant shot on the right will encounter a single bunker and/or rough, while the left side is a much more recoverable bailout area.

Hole Description:
The 10th is a “fresh start” of sorts as the opening hole to homeward nine on the Preserve Course, but also one of the more open and spacious holes as well. The fairway is wide from tee to green, but to play the hole well, one must consider the strategic bunker placements and the resulting angles that are presented. The centerline of the hole is always a good bet here, as that will be the best way to approach the long, elevated green, protected by bunkers on the front, right and the back, left.

Hole Description:
The picturesque, par-3 11th demands aggressive play to conquer the wetland and the long bunker fronting the large, angled green. Short misses on the left are not a bad play here, which still leave a relatively benign pitch into the depth of the green, but the surface contours will still challenge any approach shot that is distant from the pin.

Hole Description:
This seemingly straight mid-length par-four calls for a bold tee shot down the left side of the split-level fairway. Those who can keep it on the raised left side will have an easier time seeing the putting surface. Shots that find the right side of the fairway may earn awkward lies in some of the uneven forms, and it is certainly more challenging to see the green surface from this vantage as well. Still, the green is rather large and there is plenty of recovery area in the front and left side.

Hole Description:
The 13th is a great mid-length par-four with great definition off the tee. A single bunker frames the left side and serves as a reasonable target, but still guards the preferred angle of approach. Tee shots finding the right side of the fairway risk going into the uneven forms in the right rough as well as a more demanding angle into the green, over the two, deep bunkers fronting the green. The medium-small green is elevated and pitches from back-to-front as well as some left-to-right movement as well. The center of the green is always a good play.

The open tee shot here is somewhat deceptive, with water lurking at the end of the landing area. Hence, players must be careful not to go too far! The play is from the right side of the fairway here (with awkward bumps and hanging lies in through on the left). Even though the right side approach is over water, the small, pitched green is much more receptive from this angle. There are no bunkers on this hole, but don’t be fooled into thinking it a pushover!

This par-3 seems relatively benign in such a vast setting. The green is indeed large, but the water will be factor for a front pin position and the bunker on the right will cause for similar concern when holes are set on that side. Even with the large target, once players find this green, the putting can be quite a challenge with its nuanced contours and back-to-front sloping.

Hole Description:
A solid par-4 here which begs a left-to-right shaped tee shot. The sandy area on the right is more for visual definition than an actual physical impediment, but the more a player can cut off down the right side, the shorter and easier the approach will be to the deep green. Pin positions here can greatly change club selection, along with the characteristic breezes that swirl between the trees. A deep bunker and some sharp slopes flank the left side of the green while the right side is more of shaved down collection area supporting of more varied recovery options.

Hole Description:
This par-5 finishing hole calls for supreme accuracy and control from tee through the green. The corridor is not blessed with great width, so a well-positioned tee shot is needed to challenge this hole. There is more width in the second landing area, short of the water, so staying to the left center is advisable (with small, treacherous bunkers lurking in the right rough). Several hollows guard the front of the green and should be a consideration for any player looking to run the ball into the green via the ground. The putting surface is rather spacious but is full of interesting contours and resulting cup locations…especially in the back! Be aware that shots missing the green on the right side could find a deep hollow that is head height below the green surface.
